Experience a day of outdoor painting in one of Northern Indiana’s most beautiful natural settings at Wellfield Botanic Gardens.

Paint the Gardens is a one-day plein air competition inviting artists to capture the gardens’ serene waterways, historic river corridor, curated landscapes, and seasonal blooms.

Nestled along Christiana Creek, Wellfield Botanic Gardens offers artists a wide variety of inspiring scenes—from formal garden beds and wooded paths to river views, wetlands, and architectural garden features. Artists can expect peaceful surroundings, well-maintained walking paths, and a welcoming atmosphere that encourages creativity and community. Plein Air kits will be available to borrow/use for Wellfield members (limited supply).

Cash prizes will be awarded!

Event Schedule:

8 a.m. – Artist check-in & canvas stamping
8 a.m.– 2 p.m.  – Painting throughout the gardens
2 p.m. – Artwork due for display and judging
2:30 p.m. – Awards ceremony (cash awards presented)
2:30–4 p.m. – Public art sale and exhibition
