Get in the holiday spirit by creating delightful Christmas tree and angel luminaries out of clay with an instructor from the Elkhart Art League!
This course takes place on two separate Saturdays, November 7th and 21st, both beginning at 10:15 a.m. When you sign up, you're in for both sessions! All supplies are included in the workshop price. Dress comfortably and expect to get your hands dirty. Please feel free to bring an apron from home if you'd like.
Session 1: Learn foundational slab-building techniques to construct three unique pieces: one large luminary Christmas tree (perfect for tea lights) and two smaller trees or angels. You’ll cut, shape, and join clay slabs, add textures and pierce your luminary to let the light shine through.
Session 2: Bring your fired pieces to life with color. After your trees and angels have been bisque-fired, you’ll return to apply professional ceramic glazes. You can go for classic green trees and white angels or get creative with speckled or stained finishes. Your masterpieces will be fired one last time and ready for pickup 7–10 days after the final class—just in time for holiday decorating or gift-giving!
No previous clay experience is required, as instructors will guide you through every step of the hand-building and glazing process.
