The Great Lakes are alive with the color, song, and wonder of hundreds of bird species, and now there’s a guide to help you discover them all. Join Fables Books and Wellfield Botanic Gardens for a special evening with Dexter Patterson, author of the forthcoming Best Little Book of Birds: Birds of the Great Lakes (To be released on October 7).
In this engaging talk, Dexter will share birding stories, tips for identifying over 100 Great Lakes species, and insights on habitat conservation that ensure these natural wonders remain for generations to come. Additionally, Wellfield's very own Bird Walk Guide, Mary Kauffmann-Kennel will join Dexter for conversation and to give insider information on birds found at the Gardens.
As co-founder of the BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin and CEO of Operation Bird Joy, Dexter is dedicated to spreading joy and making birding more inclusive for all. His work has been featured in Birds & Blooms, Sierra Club, and National Audubon magazines.
